6 Week Competition compiled by Creative Girls @ Scrappin Craft With T

(Entry for Week I)

Week I challenge presented by: Karen Calcutt

Your challenge this week is too....
  • Create a layout/project about a loved one
  • Must journal about what you love about them
  • Create your own flowers on your layout
  • Must use beads and use felt
  • Must use fabric and must use a doily
*Important NOTE: no commercial flowers allowed please

My layout is about my precious niece who comes to visit the farm each school holidays. Products Used: Imaginisce Twitterpated Patterned Papers and MyLittleShoeBox 'Sky's The Limit - Follow the Cloud Paper. Loving both sets of papers. I made felt flowers with beaded centres, the main flower was made from a paper doily, lime gingham fabric and felt, AC thickers etc.

Farm Flash... The layout passed muster and I have successfully moved on to the second round.

Cardathon...

Monday, October 19, 2009

his weekend was spent playing with my 3 year old son in the sandpit, playing trains, going for walks with the dog and cat, watching a new Thomas The Tank movie for the 6th time straight, reading stories and doing numerous trips to town with more entries into the local show. My husband and daughter had gone down to Melbourne and left the two of us to our own devices, so somewhere in amongst everything I still managed to get some cards done for the World Wide Card Making Weekend over at LSBS. Still on a bit of a learning curve with card making but getting the hang of these little pieces of art. Everyone else makes it look so easy but I find it quite a challenge getting everything to fit and be well-balanced on such a small canvas! Hopefully LSBS will add a few more card making weekends into their calendar 'cause it was a really great weekend and the gallery was plenty full by the Monday.

Miss Helen (LSBS DT member and card maker extraordinaire) set three challenges: 1) Card Sketch Layout (which I made using Kaisercraft Tudor range of papers, BasicGrey Rubons and Pearls) 2) Make a set of Christmas Cards (Products Used: HeidiGrace Christmas Paper and Embellishments, Kaisercraft Rubons).  3) Set of three birthday cards using the same theme or colour scheme (Products used: The Paper Loft 'SlugBug' Paper Range.)

Benjamin and I had a wonderful weekend 'bonding' and I managed to have a touch of 'creative-me' time. Very happy indeed!

Show Stopper...

Thursday, October 15, 2009

Oh my do I need a holiday... this weekend is our annual agricultural show and so I have been busy baking up a storm to enter in the cookery section. Gotta laugh, made so many cakes, slices and biscuits in the past 2 days that the pantry is bulging and my daughter (Gorgia) couldn't decide what to put in her lunchbox for school... "too many to choose from Mum". She has also entered in the junior cookery section and made the perfect cake (so proud), honey joys, chocolate crackles and decorated Marie biscuits. They even had a scrapbooking page section this year, so put in one of my layouts, glad they are venturing out a bit.
LSBS had their October CC over the weekend just gone which had a lovely spring theme, I didn't have much time to spare so only managed to get a few of the challenges done.

Card Sketch Challeng by Deanne: I decided to go totally whimsical (how unusual) and use more of the Imaginsce Twitterpated papers and created this little card. I might even have to order some more paper 'cause I'd love to make a few more of these with some of the other little critters.

Ahhhh the serenity!

Monday, October 5, 2009

School holidays are over and although I adore having the house busy and noisy and full of laughter and happiness, it does get tiring. Today was a quiet, peaceful, sunny day and with daylight savings starting over the weekend, there was a little extra time at the end of the day to play in the garden.
I even managed to make a little card (not my forte but really trying hard) for a challenge that Sandie has on her blog at the moment. She makes the most superb cards so browsing her blog is always inspirational.
The day didn't finish as well as it began, we had a trip to hospital with Ben (3) who fell over and hit his head on a nasty piece of concrete hiding in the long grass. No stitches but buckets of blood and a nasty deep cut, enough to totally freak out his older sister who screamed the farm down to alert us that something drastic had happened. Why do heads bleed so darn much? Anyhow, all is well again, he is sound asleep on the couch with his father and I might even get some time to be creative again.
