Every now and again I down tools on my DT commitments and scrapping my family memories to simply scrap because I find something that sparks my interest.
Moxi Fab World is usually my weakness as I love all the unique and inspiring challenges and there is nothing better than pouring through all the gorgeous cards that followers submit for their entries. So when I spied the
washi tape challenge I was instantly drawn to getting my craft on and having some fun with the huge pile of
Doodlebug Washi tape that sits patiently on my desk.
First things first, draw a tree design on the backside of my patterned paper of choice (woodgrain of course).
Cut out tree! Perhaps I should keep this piece and use it as a template for misting or something. Must hold that thought!
Place random strips of washi tape over the branches and cut out leaf shapes and be careful when lifting the washi tape that part of the branch doesn't come with it... had to prune a few branches because I wasn't careful enough... grrrr!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
This is sooo cute - great idea. You are VERY committed to do such FIDDLY work - I'd never have the patience - but I'm glad you have - cos then we get to enjoy what you produce!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletethis is fabulous Melinda I do agree with Lizzy I don't think I could do this as it's so fiddly but great job it looks wonderful
ReplyDeleteSo neat!!
ReplyDeleteSo super creative!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous idea! Love it!!!
ReplyDeleteTotally adorable! Love the new use for washi tape! I can't believe you cut this darling tree out by hand. I thought it was a diecut for sure! :)
ReplyDeleteDude, you are just so darn clever!
ReplyDeleteMelinda, thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving such a sweet comment. The washi thing just eludes me more often than not. I love it on others' projects, but my own...generally fails. Your tree is stunning, more so for all the hand work.
ReplyDeleteFor that much work this deserves a frame! Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic! I love how colorful your pretty tree is. Great design, too!
ReplyDeleteMelinda, this rocks! I love how you used the WT and all your colors :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! Love the polka dotted leaves. And how pretty for autumn. Emily Keaton had a great tip about placing Washi tape on waxy paper (I save the back of sticker sheets for this purpose) and then cutting or punching out your shapes. The backing pulls off and you can safely place your item. Is she clever or what!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your sweet card! :)
