The critters are off to CHA...

Friday, January 4, 2013

I am so envious of these little guys as they have made the trip to CHA which is something that I'm yet to do although it is definitely on my bucket list. Life just keeps getting in the way! I know I have shared these before, but only as a sneak peek on my blog and never the full cards. So I figured it was time I introduced you to these little guys...

The Pig

Piggy came first! I had fallen in love with the woodgrain expoxy buttons from Jillibean Soup and was determined to make them the feature of my projects. All I had to do was come up with an idea and that's when this little guy came to being! And I can honestly say he was another idea that was dreamed up in the shower and quickly drawn onto the steamy glass door. Seriously, I wish I could print straight from the shower!

The bird

I was a little bit more 'creative' with the background for this little guy and added the sunburst and some clouds but he needed something to sit on so I hand stitched a little telephone wire (minus the posts).

The Frog

And to complete the trio, along came Frog! Admittedly he was the hardest to design because I just couldn't quite get his eyes right and he originally had legs but they just didn't work, at all! So this little fellow was to be legless and sad as he was to be a get well card. He was lucky enough to have a nice lily-pad to sit on and then I realised he needed reeds so I had to carefully lift the frog and lily-pad to place the reeds behind. The water was another after thought so I had to carefully punch holesamongst the lily-pad before stitching.

I would love to say that my designs are always pre-thought up and that everything goes into place in order but that's just not how I seem to work. I come up with a basic concept and then add or subtract as I go along. Thank goodness foam tape is easily moved.

So that's the gang. If you happen to be at CHA and see these little guys then you will have a bit more insight into how they were created. Don't forget to say hi to Jill and the Soup Crew!

From farm to you...

These cards were some of my favorite cards for 2012. I even showed my husband! Haha. Anyway, the only thing I don't know is how you physically cut them.?. The lines are so perfect. I would love to know! Consider yourself pinned my friend!
