A day at the races...

Spring in Australia is always a hive of activity as it marks the beginning of the Spring Horse Racing Carnival. Fashion stores prepare months in advance to have the prettiest of wares on offer for the big day at the track. In all honesty, so much money is spent before you even get to the races with a new dress, shoes, hat, make-up, hairstyle etc that it seems such a waste for one day (you can't be seen at two different race meetings wearing the same outfit).
So I came up with a plan... Imaginisce have recently released their i-top fashion accessories range and this week marks the release of their gorgeous new Spring collection 'Garden Party' so in combination with my Cricut 'Straight From The Nest' cartridge I created a 'fascinator'.

A 'fascinator' is an alternative to a hat and is ususally made using a headband or hair comb adorned with lots of feathers, flowers, ribbons etc and terribly expensive. I've seen them in stores for well over $100.

I cut four different size flowers and various size leaves from the blue and aqua toned papers in the Garden Party collection using my Cricut. I then curled the edges of the flowers using the new Imaginisce Roller Tool and created a covered medium size twist brad using the i-top. Each feathery leaf was adhered to a strip of strong clear acetate before I punched a hole in the end so that it would fit over the twist daddy component on the Imaginisce headband.
So this little 'fascinator' was created for under $10 and was so quick and simple that I could make numerous different styles and colours for the price of one store bought item!

Don't forget that Imaginsice are giving away a complete Garden Party collection each day of the Release Celebrations and a few surprises thrown into the mix every other day so pop over to their blog to see what the rest of the design team have been up to and to enter in the draw for your chance to win. Thanks for stopping by!

From farm to you...
