I-top Intensive Day Two...

Tuesday, January 4, 2011

Welcome to day two of the Imaginisce i-top intensive where we are showcasing the many different ways in which the i-top can be used on your scrapping projects. Today our theme is gifts and I must say... I think I've given my i-top a big work-out making this framed heart using the Imaginisce brad daddies.

I created the brads using all three sizes of the brad daddies and covered them with multi-coloured face-washers and paper from the gorgeous new Garden Party collection. I've even included a little step x step at the bottom of the post so you can see how to make the fun furry brads.

A small tip for making paper covered brads... I used the Garden Party 6x6 paper pad because it is single sided and slightly thinner than the 12 x 12 double sided sheets. This allows you to create a beautiful smooth finished to the edges of your brads, especially if you give the paper a slight misting with a water spray bottle before you make the brad.

Now for today's blog hop Imaginisce are going to give one lucky participant their very own i-top with some accessories thrown in for good measure... so who'd like to give one of these amazing tools a new home?

All you have to do is visit all three of the designers' blogs, leave a comment on each blog and then hop your way back to the Imaginisce blog to leave a final comment letting us know what you spied on today's hop. Every comment you leave puts you in the running to take home this wonderful prize pack and also puts you in the draw for the final secret Grand Prize to be announced on Friday with all the winners.

Todays blog hop order is as follows, so if you started at the beginning then you should be off to visit Aphra next. However, if you've jumped in on my blog first then not to worry, just make sure you visit each of the three blogs before finishing at Imaginisce. Good luck and happy hopping!

Face Washer brads...

Making your own brads using the i-top by Imaginisce is the ideal way to alleviate the hassle of not having a brad that perfectly matches your layout. You can use either the patterned paper of your project or co-ordinating fabrics like my favourite terry-towelling which creates the cutest little furry brads that are a stand-out feature on any layout.
[Step 1]
When using fabric you don't need to use the cutting templates or be as precise with your shape as material stretches and folds easily over the brad topper. I have roughly cut a small circle using a brightly coloured facewasher and chosen a small brad daddy.

[Step 2]
Placing the brad topper into the tool and covering it with the fabric you give a gentle squeeze and the topper will be positioned inside the fabric.
[Step 3]
Remove any excess fabric and fold in the remining edges before placing the brad daddy into the tool and give another gentle squeeze to join the two pieces.
[Step 4]
And there you have it... one very cute and fluffy brad that matches perfectly with the project.
The possibilities for making brads are endless using the i-top with so many fabrics and papers that will easily create beautiful brads to compliment any layout.

For those of you shopping on-line in Australia and looking for the i-top and accessories you can find them at HandmadebySuzanne.
