Snips and Snails...

Sunday, April 3, 2011

I really look forward to the start of each month as it means I can share another project from my time on the Creative Team at Scrapbooking Memories magazine (Australia). And this month I can reveal my very first step x step two page article. I must admit, I was a little nervous doing this as I wasn't really sure I was going to come up with something that people would be interested in... but I've had so many emails asking how I do the rolled paper edges that I thought it would be a good place to start.

This is the finished article after publication!

I seriously love this photo of my little man holding out his prize catch for the day. He was helping me in the garden and was using his tractor with its bucket to cart away the snails. If you look closely you can see quite a few snails trying to escape. The Dino Roar papers from Imaginisce were perfect for this layout as the colours were ideal for a little man page yet still bright, fun and funky with big spots... I love spots. I hand drew the snail and then paper piece him together using different layers of the Dino Roar patterned paper and pop dots to give him a bit of dimension.

I went a little crazy with the hand stitching and decided to do a row of cross-stitch around the edge, then I got bored with using the one colour as it took so long so I decided to alternate colours as I went.
