Teddy's New Shoes...

Tuesday, February 12, 2013

Scrapbooking has brought me so much pleasure over the years as it was a way to be creative and document all the happenings of my little family. However, I had no idea it would also lead me to gaining so many new and wonderful friends all over the world. I would never had imagined that I could become so close to so many people with whom I have never met... and one such beautiful sole is a very dear friend Clare, all the way from the UK.

Clare has become a surrogate Auntie to our little Teddy and when he was born she parceled up a beautiful gift which included his very first pair of shoes and I couldn't wait for his tiny feet to grow big enough!

I created this layout using a combination of Jillibean Soup collections as the different ranges mix and match so well. Sometimes it's hard to know which paper goes with what collection because they blend so beautifully.

I have decided this year that I 'must' journal on my layouts regardless!!! Now that's more difficult than it sounds because I'm always so worried that I'll mess up and ruin the layout. Until now I've usually written my journaling on the back of the layout so it didn't matter what I said and how I said it because it was only visible to me. Anyhow, I'm commited to my resolution and although I have hidden the journaling away on this little Jillibean Kraft tag that sits behind the photo, it's still on the front of the layout so I'm doing okay!

I have recently purchased a whole pile of templates from The Crafter's Workshop because I just couldn't resist them any longer. I've always been in awe of people who mist and spritz and spray on their layouts using templates so I decided that I would give it a go. I even attempted my hand at adding a little bit of texture paste just for the fun of it.

Supplies:
Jillibean Soup Patterned Paper: Coconut Lime Soup (Straw Mushrooms), Macho Nacho Soup (2 Parts Boy, 4 Parts Hero, Pinch of Cool), Soup Staples II (Gray Salt, Yellow Salt)
Co-ordinating Cardstock Stickers: Coconut Lime Soup, Country Pumpkin Chowder, Grandma's Lima Bean Soup, Macho Nacho Soup, Southern Chicken Dumpling Soup, Winter Tortellini and Spinach Soup.
Pea Pod Parts - Macho Nacho Soup.
Soup Labels - The Little Things.
Kraft Shipping Tag
Other Products Used: Pebea Modelling Acrylics, Mister Hueys White Opaque, The Crafter's Workshop Template, Circle Cutter, Embroidery Thread.

Now did you realise that Jillibean Soup have the most amazing Staples paper collection that I have fallen in love with. On one side you have the Swiss dot pattern and the other side has the ever popular chevron pattern, and comes in all different colours to co-ordinate with their products. So, I decided to have a little play with the Staples II collection and created two fun little cards.

I don't think I will ever tire from using the Martha Stewart Butterfly punch! It would have to be my main 'go to' stamp for just about everything.

Now I love this card but I wasted way too much paper trying to get the curve of the rainbow perfect. However, I've kept all the bits and pieces in hope that I'll be able to use up every last piece... eventually!

From farm to you...

  8. The LO about the new shoes is so sweet! I love all the texture and the lovely colours you used. Adorable photo and he does look so proud of his lovely footwear!
The cards are so pretty too but then again, I am a little partial to polka dots. :) The colours and the fun shapes against the white background are so clear and fresh. I like the white alphas on the white background and those little hearts at the bottom of the rainbow arcs. Perfect! :)
