My favourite layout so far...

Wednesday, October 2, 2013

I would love to say that each new layout I create is my new favourite but that's not always the case. Sometimes a layout just doesn't turn out the way I'd hoped and I'm happy it's finished and eager to move on. However I can honestly say this layout is one of my all time favourites, not because of its design but because of the photo.
Now if you think you've seen this layout before, you're not going mad - it has been on the Little Yellow Bicycle blog and also the Greatest View blog... I'm just a little slow in getting it up on my own blog.

DESIGNED FOR | Little Yellow Bicycle
PROJECT | Love This Moment Layout

THE STORY | Taking photos of our number one son is never easy as he is always such a comedian in front of the camera and most photos have googly eyes and a tongue poking out. This particular day was no exception as he was jumping on the trampoline and acting the goat so all photos prior to this were less than attractive. However when he laid down to rest he didn't see me pick up the camera and I managed to capture this single shot. Two seconds later he was back up and bouncing around again!

HOW I COMMUNICATED THE STORY | I tried to use a colour pallete that was calming and quite serene so it blended with the look of the photo rather than making the photo stand out too much. I chose to use the little camera flair badge because the whole layout is about capturing that perfect photo.

TIPS TO SHARE | I'm really enjoying the use of transparent embellishments at the moment because they are perfect for layering as you can see each layer. However there never seems to be an adhesive that totally disappears under a transparency so I always try to add my glue under sections that won't be seen or under the non transparent sections like the white part of the lettering in the word 'love' that forms part of my title. Placement of adhesive is everything when using transparencies.

  3. I really love this one too! That photo is a precious moment as you say, a moment of stillness and reflection, and your layout is wonderfully created.. I have used clear embellishments too and find getting the placement of glue essential to the finished look.. I reckon you have placed it perfectly on here!! Love the graceful flow down the layout!!

  4. This is divine!!! I love it so much!!! I can see why it's a favourite! Have you tried the adhesive aerosols? A bit messy though... the overspray... when using for tiny pieces. :)

  12. I just discovered your blog and am in love with your style. I really like stitching on layouts and cards but am not very good at using a sewing machine myself so I never include it in my projects. I love how the vertical lines of hearts mimic stitching that you would see on other projects and I look forward to trying something like this myself. And I look forward to exploring the rest of you blog posts
