Crate Paper Card Sketch...

Sunday, May 23, 2010

Crate Paper have been running a card sketch challenge as part of their 'Card Week' celebrations so I decided to take up the challenge. I've had a couple of CP ranges tucked away waiting for something special and just never seem to get the chance to do anything with them... that is until now. So I set to work using Crate Paper's gorgeous 'Bliss' Collection.

I pondered for some time on the sketch and turned it sideways, upside down, you name it... I tried it and nothing would come to me until a light went on in my head late last night and the card-handbag was made. Now, I can't lay claim to this being an original idea as there are lots of handbag/purse projects out there, not to mention the very talented Liz Qualman who recently made a gorgeous purse invitation complete with tutorial which you can view HERE.
I seriously love printed paper that allows for lots of fussy-cutting as it saves on buying pre-packaged embellishments and you know that your hand-made embellishment is going to match every time!
I even got to play with my new toy... a crimping machine, don't laugh, I know these have been around for years but I have never had one or used one so this is exciting to me.

Another first and still keeping with my New Years resolution of 'trying all things new'... I used glitter! Um, looks effective but boy does it make a mess and can anyone tell me how to get it off my face, I've had two showers and my eyebrow still sparkles. I think a little more practice is going to be needed with the glitter!
From farm to you...

  11. Melinda this is so beautiful, what an amazing take on the sketch. I love how you used your paper crimper. Unfortunately, glitter goes where you want it and where you don't - too bad it's so irresistible!
