I-top brads using facewashers...

Saturday, November 27, 2010

I have been having a lovely time as guest designer for Handmade by Suzanne who runs an extensively stocked on-line store based in Western Australia. Suzanne sent me over a lovely designer pack full of goodies and the gorgeous Bo Bunny 'Olivia' collection with its dreamy colourscheme and french chic influenced embellishments.
I can honestly say I have never used a photo quite so big on a layout, however I'm really thrilled with the way it turned out and it allowed both the photo and the emebllishments to remain a feature without detracting from one another. I even put a different spin on the polka dot patterned paper and used a flower punch to enhance the cream coloured dots without being overstated or too obvious. And once again I have added a couple of my facewasher brads which I am really loving at the moment and they are so easy to create with the i-top from Imaginisce, also available at Handmade by Suzanne which you purchase HERE along with all the accessories.
This photo perfectly captures everything about my beautiful farm girl and I'm thankful that I managed to take the picture when I did, she is growing so quickly and I really don't want to miss a minute.

Making your own brads using the i-top by Imaginisce is the ideal way to alleviate the hassle of not having a brad that perfectly matches your layout. You can use either the patterned paper of your project or co-ordinating fabrics like my favourite terry-towelling which creates the cutest little furry brads that are a stand-out feature on any layout.
[Step 1]
When using fabric you don't need to use the cutting templates or be as precise with your shape as material stretches and folds easily over the brad topper. I have roughly cut a small circle using a brightly coloured facewasher and chosen a small brad daddy.
[Step 2]
Placing the brad topper into the tool and covering it with the fabric you give a gentle squeeze and the topper will be positioned inside the fabric.
[Step 3]
Remove any excess fabric and fold in the remining edges before placing the brad daddy into the tool and give another gentle squeeze to join the two pieces.
[Step 4]
And there you have it... one very cute and fluffy brad that matches perfectly with the project.
The possibilities for making brads are endless using the i-top with so many fabrics and papers that will easily create beautiful brads to compliment any layout... definitely a must for Christmas wishlist.

From farm to you...
