I'm not a morning person...

Saturday, February 26, 2011

I guess I can say I've never been a morning person but that has become more evident since taking up scrapbooking. So many late nights or perhaps I should say early mornings, sitting up at the table and creating while the rest of the household sleeps. And then I struggle to drag myself out of bed each morning. And when I do, breakfast is the last thing on my mind.

I was asked by a fellow papercrafter and friend Liz Qualman to contribute a layout for an article she was writing on Breakfast rituals around the globe which you can read HERE. I hadn't ever visualised my morning routine or how it could be portrayed on a scrapbooking layout so considered this a nice break from the 'norm' and looked forward to the challenge.

My day starts with getting kids ready for their day, making beds, shower, load of washing, school run etc so I don't tend to eat breakfast until mid morning. And personally it's the best time of day as the house is peaceful except for the gentle hum of the washing machine and the dishwasher.

I'm not your typical cereal and coffee person, actually I've never had a cup of tea or coffee in my life. I like to break the fast with vegemite on toast and a can of ice-cold Coke Zero (some habits are hard to break). It's far from being the perfect meal but it is one that I savour in peace and usually with a vase of freshly picked roses from my garden. I love to have fresh flowers in the house as often as the garden will allow.
