This year just seems to be flying by and it's almost Winter here in Australia. The fire is lit, I have my Ugg boots on, a warm cup of Milo and my latest Scrapbooking & Beyond magazine is sitting open on the arm of my chair, however it's beneath a sleeping cat so something or someone has to budge before I get to have a good old read.
This issues has the second installment of the 'Let's Mix It Up' Feature which brings together Corrie Jones, Liz Qualman, Robbie Herring and myself to combine an eclectic mix of different products onto our layouts whilst remaining true to our style. This particular issue we used fabric pieces from Basic Grey which caused me a little bit of concern to begin with... actually it was almost a hair pulling moment! I had to sit down and really think about fabric which took me back to my childhood and my mum. I was incredibly lucky to have a mother who could sew, knit, crotchet etc and she was determined to pass on her knowledge to her children and thankfully I retained some of what she'd taught me.
Trying to mix my paper craft with patchwork was a bit trickier than I'd first hoped. Actually it was quite fiddly and time consuming yet it was pleasantly relaxing and incredibly rewarding. I really was proud of how this layout turned out with all the quilted leaves making up the tree to form the background for the photo.
Each leaf was hand drawn, hand cut, hand stitched and padded with a hand-cut piece of foam.
I'm still working hard on keeping up with my journaling and although I have used a hidden journal tab, the information is still there so I'm winning the battle.
And finally, here's how my layout was featured in Scrapbooking & Beyond...
Очень интересный прием. Красивая страничка!
