Get Picky Inspiration Challenge + Winners!!!

Sunday, October 30, 2011

It's time for my second and final project for my guest designer spot on the 'Get Picky' challenge blog and it is a lovely challenge using the following picture as inspiration PLUS the addition of fabric to be used somewhere on your layout.

I decided to use the gorgeous colours as my inspiration and added touches of hessian and terry-toweling for my fabric elements. And here's what I came up with...

List of supplies:
American Crafts - Kraft and White Cardstock, Pearl Brads
Doodlebug: Pink and White Twine
Provocraft: Cricut Cartridge 'Straight From The Nest'
Kaisercraft - Pearls and Rubons
Imaginisce: i-top 2.0 and medium brad daddies
Pebbles: Chalks
Generic: Paper Flowers, Back Stamens, Hessian, Terry-Toweling

I hand cut the leaves from a piece of natural hessian.

The towelling brads were created using the i-top tool from Imaginisce and the medium brad daddies. I love the furry look it gives the centres of the flowers.

The background was a bit of a 'work in progress' as I started with one idea and then it evolved into a completely different look. I used my Cricut to cut out the filigree piece and then painstakingly lifted it off my Cricut mat. Note to self... don't use a brand new mat when doing something so fiddly and so large. Then I placed it down on to another white sheet of cardstock so it was barely visible which didn't really work, so then I came up with the bright idea to chalk the edges of the pattern.

Unfortunately I used a colour that was perfect at the time, until I came up with my second bright idea of focusing on the pink of my daughter's hat and creating the page theme from the colour pink. So... diligently I reapplied a second coat of chalk in pink! *insert frown*

You only have until November 14 to get your entries into the Get Picky Challenge blog which you will find HERE. Good luck and I can't wait to see all the entires!
