A Layered Approach + Tutorial!

Tuesday, July 16, 2013

Today I'm sharing a layout I created for my Tuesday Tutorial on the Jillibean Soup blog and it was all about layers and the new Happy Camper Stew range. I've always been a big fan of critters, trees, flowers etc in collections because it means I can create little scenes on my pages. And seriously... I couldn't go past this adorable little fox and all the mushrooms.

PROJECT | Eating-Apples Layout

WHERE DID THE IDEA COME FROM | Well the idea behind this layout doesn't have a lovely story or glossy photo of a gorgeous cake from Pinterest. It's simply a design I created in my head whilst I poured through the newest collection from Jillibean Soup - 'Happy Camper Stew'. There is nothing more inspiring than brand new product so I sat down and worked out what I wanted to achieve, drew my little sketch and began the process of putting it all together. I never do anything without a sketch and I have so many books full of all my rough drawings - I'd be lost without them. Besides, it's almost impossible to work on a layout such as this without some form of design because of all the layers.

ON TREND | Sequins are making a big come-back and I will happily admit that I'm thrilled because I have so many containers full of sequins in all different shapes, sizes and colours. It's nice to be able to use up supplies that have been lurking in the back of the cupboard for a long time. And even my vellum stash has been getting a big work-out lately.

  5. I'm with you on the sequins...not that I have many, but I'm not really a 'flowery' scrapper..but with sequins i can pretend to be girly & they're not too overwhelming.......you SKETCH..this is fascinating, seeing how you work a page. I just throw it all on...or get sidetracked then do something else mid-stream, so I have to change my whole page to accommodate it!!!! We are almost opposites on the scrap-ometer...if there was such a thing. Maybe I'll invent one!!!!! See, even my comments change midstream...I MEANT to say a/I miss having an orchard & b/ those 'sun rays' look GREAT & c/ LOVE the little squirrel!!!!
